Hello
I'm new in the forum and own two skinny pigs

I have a question my sons friend scuffed my Guinea pig and held her in the air for about a Second before my husband intervened ( I was at work)

Since then she has been In shock? I think
She's not eating her veg only took a few nibbles here and there doesn't like her partner near her she crys when I touch her she cries and has trembled/vibrated twice her eyes slightly closed

If I take her for the corner she is sitting In to comfort her then she will be alert and go back to an area and go back to same behaviour

I've since seperated her with a very nice hidden house ,heat pad ,veg ,food and water
Will she come around I'm just so worried about her I don't want her to change she was so care free and friendly :(
Anyone have advice or idea if it is shock?

Thank you

Poor girl. I am guessing she was majorly traumatised by the experience. The skinnies I have come into contact with have all been quite highly strung. I'm sure she will come around eventually with patience and gentle handling. It's easy to assume human feelings in our pets, and that a cuddle from you will make her feel loved and comforted, but it may be that she associates all humans with the scary thing that happened. Keep giving her love and regain her trust, and she will revert to her normal lovely self soon I'm sure. Let us know how you get on.

Poor little thing, you must be very upset.

Agree with the above advice. She needs to be left alone for a while to calm down and feel safe again. What do you mean by 'Scuffed'?

Skinnies are definitely highly strung. I agree to monitor her for now and make sure she is warm and has food easily accessible. If she stops eating though I would get her checked by a vet. You can't see any bruising or anything? it is more obvious on a skinny.

I would have scuffed him.Little sod.So pleased hubby was there to stop him.As stated just keep an eye on him

Grabbing or pinching the back skin behind the ears

Thank you so much everyone!
She has no injuries ,no bruising either
I will def keep everyone posted

Well I just checked her and thought she was dead she is very lethargic this morning
When I pick her up she is alert and moves around
I put some water to her mouth but all she wants is to resort back to her hidey hole

So this happened last night? I would have expected her to have calmed down by now. I would be inclined to get her checked over at a vet. Is she eating?

No injuries at all
But so traumatized
Yes very naughty child I'm very upset about this
It's been 13 hours since the incident happen
Is there a chance she could die of a heart attack?!?!?
I am worried that taking her to the vet wil take her over the edge
Any suggestions how to help her at home

Well she did move from one location to another but when she's on her heat pad she Resorts back to the very lethargic way
She is now moving around and ate one bite of apple and now water ?!?!?!?!
So that's great sign
I'm gonna leave her be for a bit
But she is drinking water now
Keep you guys posted

I know, I can sense how distressed you are. No, she wont have heart attack. Just keep her calm - no loud noises and settled. Eating, pooing, weeing is a good sign.

She loves it so much nothing phases her
Sometimes you actually think she is dead

Update:

Well she has eaten some veg and grass still not acting the same only alert when handled
Still wanting to lay around
Her poops are normal but did notice a little runny nose on one side little drip and clear
Wondering if she maybe getting URI ? Due to the stress
I'll see how she is in the morning and go from there

I really think it's time for a vet check . Something doesn't sound right . Like you say - maybe the shock made has triggered something.

Better safe than sorry.

you that's what I'm thinking to just to be safe
She is eating little and pooping but there's just something off
Will call vet first thing

I want to thank everyone for your replies

She has done a 180%
Kendal is back to normal Hallejuah !! I guess quiet time, heat pad ,constant fresh veg and love of course made her feel better
