Hey,
Seeing as we have Astro turf, I let my (lone just for now) piggy explore our garden freely. As it’s very enclosed however my mum and my dog came back from a walk and he shot out into the garden and started to chase her. She ran so fast and into her outdoor hutch. She was a little shaken, will this affect her health in any way?
Thanks a bunch

I think she'll be ok, just a little stressed for a bit. I don't know when this happened, but if it was recently, try comforting her.

She’ll probably be fine if the dog didn’t get her. But she may be very wary of coming out again.

She'll be fine, really. Maybe nervous a little while but her health should be fine. Is it safe for the dog to be introduced to this little one through the cage after she has time to calm down a bit? I don't think they need to be friends but maybe more of a familiarity.

Absolutely not.
Please never allow a large predator to approach your guinea pigs 'safe' place.
Even if the dog is fully under control the guinea pig does not know this and will be terrified.

For example if you had a fear of spiders, would it help if someone placed a large hairy one right next to you without any warning?

Oh god no I would never introduce a piggy and a dog. It took seconds for my mum's dog to catch and kill a rat in the garden

Please never let a dog with a hunting instinct get close to a guinea pig!
Ideally, keep dogs and piggies apart from each other at all times. Full stop.
Dogs licking piggies in videos may look cute, but only as long as you cannot read piggy body language.

Far too many piggies have died that way, including three of my childhood piggies, no thanks to our neighbours' dog and their badly maintained fence. My dad had constructed what he thought was a safe run with a firm lid, but sadly it wasn't, and there was another attack a couple of years after the first one. :(
It takes only seconds and is often over long before you can intervene.

Guinea pigs can die from sheer fright, internal injuries, broken necks/spines from being flung around.

Please make sure that your guinea pigs are always in a dog-safe, anchored and covered run that your dog cannot get into if they are outside or otherwise in a locked room indoors.
