It's been a week and four days since Godfrey's eyes were scratched, they're in much better shape but not fully healed. Is this normal? He's perfectly healthy but I'm worried:(

I would have thought they would have healed up by now.. whenever my Guineas have had hay pokes - the vet always tells me to bring them back if no improvement . Perhaps Godfrey should have check up

Get him back to the vet if there is no improvement. They can take a good look at the eye for you

I would take him back to the vet, get
Them to check his eyes again, one of my girls had a feathery grass seed wrapped its way around her eyeball, out of sight under the eyelid.
The eye was improving a little but nowhere as quickly as usual even with drops, I took her back to the vets &this is when the grass seed was found. Neither the vet or I had spotted it on her first visit.

The eyeball healed nicely when the seed was removed.
Your guinea may still have a little bit of foreign body left in there, that's still irritating/damaging it.
Healing vibes for a full &speedy recovery. Xx

Has he finished the drops that the vet prescribed?
If he has then I would get him back for another check up.
It might just be that the scratches were a little deeper than they first appeared, but eyes can be tricky so definitely worth getting them rechecked.

Oh dear, feels like we've brought them to the vet so much! It's hard to describe but the lining of his eye has sort of split and isn't rejoined yet... So horrible to look at! What if it never heals? I'm definitely panicky now.
And although we still have some of the eye drops left, we finished the course the vet prescribed.
