One of my bores (Franklin) got in a fight with his brother (Tinker), a pretty bad one. He has been in the 'hospital cage' for 3 weeks now on his own on meds and healing up. (the fight was with his brother he did not fight back much, his brother had no marks on him apart from a nipped ear).

Got the all clear today from the vet. He has been off meds now for a week, all wounds are healed apart from one scab which is healing well. Did have concerns he had developed mites too but both vets have said no to mites.

He is about 18 months to 2 years old (was a rescue I got a year ago with his brother) so not sure of exact age, probably nearer the 18 months mark.

Now I am in two minds what to do. He is a very timid piggy, the quiet one, always the last to get to the food bowl when he was in with the others. Always the one to be left out to one side.

The others will not accept him back (well his brother will now) he does a war dance and chatters when ever he sees him (have put them in runs next to each other and on the kitchen floor).

My local rescue has some baby bores in at the moment, lots of different ones. Do I get him a friend or should I leave him to live out the rest of his life alone?

Normally I would go straight for the mate option but because of all his injuries and everything I am wondering if it will be too much for him.

He is fine in himself, Like I said he has always been timid so is quite shy anyway. All the way through his treatment and injuries he never stopped eating or drinking, never lost much weight, nothing to cause concern. His injuries did not stop him being himself he was jst not keen on being picked up for the first 10 days as he was sore. So as much as it must have been a stress for him, I don't think it stressed him as much as it could have.

I would really appreciate any views anyone has. I know getting a bore can always be a risk but I have always had sucess in the past (well apart from one manic guinea pig who could not be paired with anyone).

Thanks :)
