My Caramel, who is usually flighty and noisy, is very quiet and seems to be quite lethargic. She is eating and drinking as usual. I have never seen her like this - she is lying down all the time, no visible injuries... I am probably paranoid but... ?

I don't think you are being paranoid. Us guinea pig lovers know when our piggies are not right. It's reassuring that she is eating and drinking ok but her behaviour is worrying. It could be anything- she may be in pain, or sickening for something. I suggest you get her checked out by a competent vet or rodentologist if she is no better in the morning. I am sure she will be fine xx

just checked her again and she's still the same... i'm supposed to be going to visit the in-laws this weekend... OH going to check i can take them with me :) wouldn't be happy to leave her

I know how you feel - I've been in that situation as well!

Best try and take her with so you can keep an eye on her to see whether she is just under the weather or something else is developing. Make sure that you weigh her daily even though she is eating or drinking and keep an ear on her breathing.

weighed her earlier - she is 2lb 1oz

How is she today?

It is worrying when they're suddenly very quiet, I have found that some of mine very occasionally have a down day (still eating and drinking) and then are right as rain the next day.

How old is she?

Sorry didn't update sooner, we had a weekend away, including the piggies, and i think the fresh air and the lovely Welsh grass they all nibbled on made Caramel a happy little piggie again. She is back to her almost normal self drool - just has learned that if she lies next to the cage bars I will hand feed her favourite food rather than get food with the other two! ;)
oh and she is about 14 months
