I got them from a pet store, though one that I have used for years and staff there keep piggies and are knowledgeable. I got them to check the sex in from of me so I knew they were ok. She didn't check Maude and although it's a few hrs since I have sexed a gp, they are both certainly female!

Anyhow I got some scales on the 25th trying to ensure I do my best fir these piggies (looked at info on here!). I weighed them, and couldnt remember when i had done it so did it again. i was worried they had gained a lot, but as i couldnt remember the dates was unclear when I posted.

Weighed them again today, and then discovered till reciept which shows the above date (so when I first weighed them). Now if scales are accurate these are the 9 day weight gains...

Maude: 481 on the 25th jan. To 548g on the 3rd feb
Rosie: 407g- 482g.

I suspect I am allowing paranoia to rule my thinking and that this is just healthy gain ESP for Rosie who was rather small.

Lol... I really want the best for my two so should. Stop. Worrying. But I can't lol. I do trust the pet store, but at the same time can't help thinking a pg watch won't hurt.

Now tell me. I worry too much don't I?

How much are you feeding?

Unlimited hay, unlimited pellets under 6-9 months old and about 1 cupful of mixed veg plus fresh water per piggy per day.

A high weight gain is not at all unusual for piggies coming into a good home and onto a better diet. Really high weight gain is usually only associated with the very last weeks of pregnancy when sows will have a corresponding belly!

Keep a diary and weigh regularly once a week at about the same time, as simply a full/emtpy bladder and full/empty tummy can make about 30g/1oz difference in weight. Regular weighing will give you more reliable results.

However, it is not a bad idea to be on the watch out for potential signs of pregnancy over the first 10 weeks.

Thanks! Lol. Should stop being paranoid but the stories on here have me worried even if it was not p@h. Yes they have unlimited hay and pellets cos they are only about 11weeks old! Seriously hoping they are just very contented!

They seem happy enough and love their cuddles, usually settling down and stretching out... They pop corn like mad so guess they are just very happy piggies!

I don't think their weight gain is excessive, my two youngest were around 560g at 11 weeks & had been gaining anything between 20-60 g a week around that time.

Hope that helps :)
