Hello,

I have had my New Guinea pig Penny for just over two weeks in with my two other girls. She has been rumbling and trying to hump them basically NON STOP since they met. I know that this can be caused from her being in heat and also dominance. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how long this usually lasts and if it's normal to go on for this long?
Yes, she is defiantly a girl :)

It is rare for it to be that extreme, but it can happen. How old is Penny?

Hmmm...
They could be in heat, but then again I don't know much about sows, the only guinea pigs I've ever had were boars. My guinea pigs have always rumbled at each other. This sounds like a dominance issue. I can't think of anything else to do but separate them if it gets too aggressive and wait to see what happens, though many other members will probably be able to answer your question better.

Penny is 10 months old. They are all very friendly towards each other. They snap at each other every now and then but never fight. They eat out of the same bowl and are happy sleeping next to each other....And then 10 min later penny is chasing them around again.
