Hello
My guinea pig, Squeek has a big fur ball stuck on her back but it is her hair and is rather sore! she won't let anyone touch it and it looks like it is matted together with weird white stuff. What am i meant to do?:...

Please take her to a vet to get it checked out and treated. It sounds like she has a greasy spot towards her rear that has matted the hair...she may also need treatment for mites.

I agree, if she'd let you near it I would suggest trimming it then trying to clean it with cotton wool to get a closer look. Seeing as she is finding it too uncomfortable for you to even touch then I'd definitely recommend the vets.

Is there one you could get to over the weekend, if left untreated until Monday may get alot worse and if she's in pain it would be advisable to get the little one treated.

Let us know how she goes :)

does she live alone? I'm asking because that sounds like boar juice... Whatever it is you need to sort it out so cut it out and get her to the vets x

HI and welcome :)
Yes i do think you should go see a vet with your piggie Squeek it is best for them to check her over :{
Please keep us updated, if you need help on a vet in your area in the UK please look in our recommended vets, if you're not sure update here and someone maybe able to advise.
Good luck to little Squeek xxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks all,
um Squeek has two sisters who she stays and lives with, she also is a bit of a grumpy girl so she doesn't particularly like me touching her there but she had it for a while (4-5 months) and so did Chocolate and Bubble (her sisters) but theirs went away. maybe i should take her to the vet, she is my sisters guinea pig so i have to get permission first.
Thanks them
(also i am in Australia but loved the help and the website itself!)

Yeah I was wondering if she lived with a male, because that can happen . . .
or so I've heard.

I would very gently trim it off, maybe give her a gentle bath. It might upset her, but she'll be better off afterwards. It would be worth doing it, she'll feel so much happier.
