I really like guinea pigs but my mum is so fussy with animals . Do guinea pigs smell and how big is the cage needed ?

I really agree with @sport_billy about reading the guides and doing some research before you decide. Guinea pigs are prey animals so it is also important to be aware that they may take some time in getting to know you.
I have seen sadly many cases when guinea pigs are surrendered to rescues because the owners were expecting cute cuddly balls of fluff or “easy inexpensive pets” and lost interest once they realized this is often not the case .

This is a decision you need to come to for yourself. Even if the entire forum replied “yes, get guinea pigs” it would still be an invalid response as only you can determine if they are suited to you :tu:

Welcome to the forum.
I think it’s good that you are researching carefully before committing to guinea pigs.
They are a lot more work and a lot more expensive than people realise when they think of them as small animals who won’t be difficult to look after or cost much.
They are wonderful and rewarding pets if they are right for you.
There’s good information here to help.

:agr: If you have lots of time and lots of patience and love to give guinea pigs are for you! They are very scared and skittish at first but put the time in at the beginning and you will be rewarded in bucket loads. I've had 2 of my pigs for just over 2 years and the other 3 were born on 5 May 2 years ago (surprise shop litter). They are still not keen on being picked up but love their cuddles. I consider myself very privileged that all 5 like cuddles as not all piggies do. I know they trust me implicitly and it has taken loads of work to get them there. They even let me put in eye drops and they will sit calmly on my lap while I do it.
