I have a lone boar but wondered if he would be happier with a companion? He isn't neutered so would have to be paired with another boar. Would it be easier to find him a partner if he was neutered so he could be paired with a sow? Is there better pairings?
Sorry about all the questions, thanks x

It is great that you want to find your lone boar a friend; he will profit from the stimulation and social interaction.

A good number of our recommended guinea pig rescues offer boar dating under expert supervision at the rescue, so you come home with a companion only if there has been success and you always have the rescue to fall back on if things are not going quite to plan. You can also be guaranteed that our recommended rescues only rehome healthy guinea pigs.
I can most warmly recommend East Peckham Guinea Pig Rescue who is very experienced and taking great care with bonding boars.

I would keep neutering as an option in mind only if your struggle to find a mate via bonding.

Hope you find a nice friend for your piggy!
Wish we had boar dating here... :(

I'm quite excited. I've found a rescue just up the road from me that do boar dating, you leave your piggie with them for about 4days and they help find a match :hug:can't wait!

Piggie dating is such a great option for people like us with lone boars! My first pig, Dylan, was about 6/7 years old when I adopted him and he's been alone his whole life, I wondered about getting him a friend after he'd spent all of his life alone, but it was honestly the best thing ive ever done :) ...and now I have four, woops!

Oh wow! Makes me more optimistic about it, thanks! Do you have 4 boars?

I do, in two separate pairs! Dylan's first cage mate, mouse, it's coming up to 18months and he was too boisterous for my 9 year old senior, so I got two new babies and bonded Dylan with a laid back baby and mouse has a playmate more on his level now! I wanted Dylan to spend his twilight years relaxed, he's sure deserved it and poor mouse (through no fault of his own) was pushing him about and eating all the pellets and veg!

They are in much more like minded pairs although I should point out mouse and his new friend Bucky give me a run for my money! Dylan and his friend Bailey are no bother at all :)
