I might adopt two 4 year old piggy's and I was wondering if I should keep their names or if I can change them. If I can what are some name seggestions?

I know some people change their names but if they are the names they have always had I wouldn't change them. My piggies know their names and answer to them, they would be very confussed if their names got changed. If the names they have were given to them by the rescue and they haven't had them very long then that's different and it won't matter if you change them.

It depends if you like the names and think they suit the piggy. I usually go for human names for my lot so daisy kept hers and I've had Peter and isobel who kept their rescue names. That said one of my current pigs came from the pets at home adoption centre and they had named her Pigz... So that obviously needed changing and she is now called Lily. Similarly my current male was called Jaffa cake and as much as I love Jaffa Cakes he is now called Donald :))

I changed my elderly sows name. She doesnt seem to have noticed.

They all whistle like crazy at feeding times and I dont call out their names. I just have to speak and the whistling begins!

I was going to change Bobby and Bailey's names when I got them, but I thought they suited them.....but I did change Little Dude's name - and it was me who originally called him Harpo.

I think it's really up to you. I have found it hard to know if my pigs know their names or if they simply know our voices regardless of what we're saying. I tend to think it's familiarity with our voices more than any specific words that they recognize.

I never change their names because I am rubbish at thinking up names and quite happy for someone else to choose them. :)

I rescued two girls recently and I personally didn't change the name, but that was because I had been volunteering with them and got to know them by those names. It's each persons individual choice. But I agree with what's been said above, however, depending on how the rescue come by the two piggies, their names many have been given to them by the rescue rather than the original owners (this is what the case was with my two) So the pigs may not actually know their names anyway

We named all of our piggies ourselves, and still ended up calling them something totally different. :))
For example Ruby is usually called Babycakes, and Eddi is almost always Pig-tato.

I would keep their original names for a while and see what they end up being once you really know them.
Maybe their first names will stick or maybe they will develop nicknames.

All mine are referred to a small pickles or baby girls 🤣🤣

We renamed 2 older ladies with similar sounding names, so Jessica is now Jezebel and Chloe is Clover. My latest piggy got a totally new name as she's quite young and had a bad start and probably didnt know her old name. She learnt her new name already in less than a month because it means food and cuddles :)

Haha yep I do the same, had him five years and Rupert answers to Poopy! Well Poopy Bear is his official title! And Jessie is deaf so doesn't hear what I call her or respond but it's normally Crazy Lady or Licky Licky! :)

That's true, Jezebel answers to floofy floof pants, Clover answers to big pig, and Theo answers to handsome or husboar or badger! Lady Puggle deliberately doesnt answer to "stroppy mare" but thats usually because she's sulking :)
