I am running low on papers so put an advert on freecycle as you do... well I have done it before and got quite a few bags, but with my piggies and buns, they have soon disipated, so I put another advert on today and mentioned I have a couple of pregnant piggies I have just taken in.... Well this lovely lady has said she has experience of pregnant piggies and could take them in for me, I said no, as the girl's have had enough trauma recently and are settling in..
But I did mention I know there are two boys needing a home, brothers of my Freddie, Sidney and Billy... now I have started to think maybe I do have too many and though they are all very much loved and wanted, should I let the babies once they are born and weaned go for rehoming and should my young boys, Billy, Freddie, Sidney and Romeo go as well, as they may have more time with new owners?
I am hoping to move this year and where we intend to go, there will be more room for them inside and outside, but at the moment, we are still here.
Honest opinions please.;)

its a personal decision if you are doing the best for your piggies and looking after their welfare and can afford to carry on doing so when the pregnant ones give birth then why should you give them up, it will be traumatic for the pigs and for you. However, if you really can't manage them all (suppose it depends how many babies each of the preggers have) then maybe looking at rehoming the babies once they are old enough.

Its not a decision you should make lightly or allow anyone who doesn't know you or your situation to influence. Don't be fooled by thinking that someone else can offer them more because you don't know the inner workings of that person and how much they will love the pigs and look after them.

Thanks for that!;) I know I have alot of piggies, but I do love them all very much, each one is wanted so much. Most have come because no-one wanted them!:0 Its just every now and then, I have these moments when I think I have so many and could someone give them a better life, individual attention etc... Don't get me wrong they want for nothing, big cages, exercise, good food and hay, fresh water etc... I also know when we move things will get even better!
A few people have asked if I would part with mine as I have "so many", but then I point them to rescue centres. I know my heart will rule my head, they are my babies, I have also learnt the hard way when I rehomed a rabbit once, people will always tell you what they want you to hear, to get what they want.... I got the rabbit back in the end, but she was so traumatised that she died not long later...:0
I think my brood of piggies better stay here... so I can bore you with their antics!:)):))

I'd keep them, but try to rehome the babies too :)
If you just wait until your in your new place, everything will work out better for everyone :D

You obviously love them and take very good care of them :) So I see no reason to give them up, unless you feel like you can't cope with them.

But if when the girls have the babies, you feel like you have too many, then maybe rehome some of them. or keep them if you like :) Totally up to you :)

Been off awhile, due to illness and now I have ripped my back muscles, so in quite alot of pain! I also took in an unwanted pair of piggies, that I named Teddy Teddington and Wilbur... Teddy is still here and doing so well, but my darling Wilbs was put to sleep two weeks ago, aged 3mths, he had an anal proplapse and there was nothing we could do, we tried everything, but he began passing blood and a stitch would not hold it in...:0:0 I only had him 2.5wks but how I miss the little fella8...
The girls, Kiwi, Mango and Peaches have come on leaps and bounds, but are not pregnant, so that was a relief, vet thinks they were so malnutrioned that they had pot bellies and too weak to mate or carry... only explanation as they were with boys...
We are no nearer moving though and with my back the way it is, has made me realise I may have to downsize my gang as I am not coping at all.... its not something I like to admit, but I know its the truth:(
