I love my guinea pig so much, and I try to give him the most care I can. However I have a small room and he smells it up so much. I try to talk to my parents about moving him upstairs but they don’t listen. I also try to talk to them about getting a new piggy but they say I cant. I want him to live the best possible life, so maybe someone else could get him a friend. He has a 2x4 cage and a fleece liner I spent a lot of money on so I would be kinda upset to lose all of that money. What should I do?

If you won’t get your piggy a friend, and if he’s making your room smell which indicates you don’t clean his cage often enough. Then yes I think you should rehome your piggy. Is there a Guinea pig rescue you could surrender him to?
Good luck!
I make sure to clean his cage as much as I can. I dont think there is a rescue near me but I can check

Hello ApolloX what a sad time for you - it’s a hard decision but your piggie shouldn’t be on his own - however much human company he has, it won’t compensate for a piggie friend. As his owner you have to be responsible and make the right choice for him. It is soooo hard ....but when we love our piggies as much as we do, we have to also let them go. In Switzerland it is illegal to keep a guinea pig on his own. All the guinea pig guides in the world will tell you the same.
I think in your heart you know what is best. Good luck and remember everyone here will support you 🥰

Is there something absorbent under the fleece? And how often do you clean out? The more you clean, the more boars will scent mark.

To the point of your post. It’s a hard decision but well done for considering it seriously. I think if you can’t provide the companionship he needs, then I’m afraid it would be better to surrender him.

Have a look at the rescue locator below and see if there are any near you. It may be a case of having to go a little further out.
