Should I rehome?

I have had guinea pigs for over 4 years now and in total I have had 5 but after a few recent passing away I have 2. I love them a lot but I feel I don't give them enough attention as I should and I am thinking about rehoming them, it will be really tough but I don't know how to tell my parents and if I'm making the right decision! Any help?

Do you know why your piggies passed on? What happened?

If I knew my animals weren't getting enough attention from me and that I wasn't going to change that, personally I would find them a new home immediately, with someone who's willing to give them all the attention in the world. I sure would still love them, but to me it's most important that they live the best life possible.

Please don’t do anything in haste. It’s easy after a loss to feel that you want to throw the towel in and rehome your others. I can empathise with that feeling. Whatever you decide, you have to be able to live with that decision. After consideration, if you still feel that you would prefer to rehome them, then discuss this with your parents and see if they feel the same way.
If ultimately you still feel that you and your piggies would be better off rehoming them, please contact one of our approved rescues and see if they are able to assist you. The rescues we recommend are experts in finding properly vetted new homes for piggies. Rescue Locator

I think you are being very responsible weighing up the options . I agree that it would be worth discussing your concerns with your parents and, if you still want go ahead , contacting a rescue to see if they are able to rehome them. Are you near one of our recommended rescues ?

Please discuss this with your parents. I know it isn’t easy, but if you tell them how you are feeling I am sure they will understand.
