I have two sows and one has a giant bald spot on her belly with some scratches on it. My other guinea pig always sticks her head under her belly and I think she might be chewing down her hair. I read about barbering and it might be a problem with both of them. Should I see a vet about it? What do you think it might be?:help:

I think you have a case of ring worms or fungal infection. Check the bald areas for crusty, flaky, red patches within them. Quarantine your pets with these kinds of symptoms as it is communicable.

l agree , best see a vet as soon as you can !

Well worth getting it checked out. When my late Bea had ovarian cysts she barbered herself down her stomach a bit so whilst it could be your other piggy being naughty it could also be indicating an underlying health problem.

If in any doubt that the barbering could be pain or discomfort related, please see a vet.
