i noticed my boar having some issues with his fur and he has a sore on his back. I'm not at all sure what this is. the only part worse than hair loss is on his back. my other boar doesnt have any of these problems and they are kept in the same cage. theyre both eating and drinking and passing poops normally. can anybody help?
i included some pictures of him. i noticed this just today (i got back from a 5 day holiday, my friend who is also a guinea lover was looking after them while i was gone)

It could be mites or fungal, which will need veterinary treatment I'm afraid x

i thought mites at first. would my other piggie need to be treated too even though he isnt showing any signs? should i take hom just incase?

Your other piggy would have been exposed so you could take him as a precaution. your vet will be best to advise you.

Good luck x

Hi! Please have your boy seen by a vet; it is likely either invisible mange mites or fungal/ringworm. You want a correct diagnosis, as they need different treatment. Home treating on spec with low dosed broad spectrum shop products won't do the trick and can make things worse.

Please note that you always need to treat all guinea pigs in contact with each other when you are dealing with a potentially transmittable problem; there is an interval between infection and outbreak.
