should i worry?

lately my pigs have been chewing, and in some cases, ingesting the newspaper i line the cage with (george especially). will it make them sick?

No, newspaper won't cause them any problems if they decide to have a nibble.

nope mine do this all the time they ingore the lovely hay and pellets and munch down on some paper! hmmm yum!
they tend just to nibble on the edges but it does look very messy!

Putt is always trying to eat newspaper that lines her cage underneath her wood shavings - come to think about it she'll try and nibble everything carpet, clothes, towels.... We have to watch her like a hawk and make sure nothing is left by her cage or near her run. She will try to eat everything she shouldn't but gets fussy with her veggies! :{

Rose and Bumble are paper obsessed - they chow down on all sorts! I use puppy pads to protect my clothes when we have cuddles, and they often liberate the paper from the sticky tabs. The newspaper under their bedding is well nibbled, too. I have come to the conclusion that paper is not going to harm them, and beyond an exasperated sigh, have given up trying to prevent them from eating it.

George is pulling up the fleece and ripping up the paper underneath as I type.
I give them a sheet each to play with, they do great origami. |)
