Should lice treatment work immediately?

I noticed running lice on one of my boars, and so yesterday I bathed both of my pigs and shampooed them using Johnson insecticidal shampoo. I had hold of Elliot just now and there are still lice! Should the shampoo have worked immediately or will it take time?

Oh no! That is so hard to get rid of. You usually have to treat your piggies for three weeks.
