Should we separate our guinea pigs?

After a promising start on Saturday unfortunately it didn’t work out for the long haul with Bob and Rusty bonding so we now have Bob back home with us since yesterday evening.
Plan B is to give our other young boar Rocky (approx 6 months old) a try with Rusty (18 months). Would we best to give Rusty a break before introducing another new guinea pig to him? Or would it be better to wait a number of months until Rocky is through the teenage phase? Or will neither of these factors really make much difference ?
Thanks!

I'm sorry it hasnt worked out.
I’d perhaps give him a couple of days, but you can try him with Rocky whenever you’re ready
Bonding a teen boar can be trickier due to the hormones but as it comes down to character compatibility then success or failure is not strictly linked to his age - if they aren’t compatible then it won’t make any difference now or when he is through teens. All you can do is try and see what happens. Good luck

Thanks, we may give it a try at the weekend.
I figured if they aren’t compatible it wouldn’t make any difference what age they are introduced but I just wasn’t sure if there was a chance they might not get on just now purely due to Rocky’s age i.e they are compatible but Rocky’s age would be the factor that stopped them being able to bond, if that makes sense ?!
