Can you show me how you do your floor time set up. I work all day and leave too early to put piggies in their outdoor runs, so they just get a short time outside when I get in IF it's warm, which it's mostly not.
I've got some small panels that link together (2 sets) from zooplus, but it's a bit of a faff linking it all together, removing other animals etc.
So please show me how you do yours.

Probably not much help, but for my pig's floor time, they just have ... the floor. I just let them run free in the living room, they like to race under the couch. It took a few attempts to get them 'floor toilet trained' (I just let them wee and poop the first few times, they always did it in the same place so now I put a blanket down there and they wee and poop on that) and to respond to a noise which means "Oi, come back here" but they do obey the floor rules now. To be fair though, we have a wooden floor so it's really easy to clean if they do make a bit of a mess. I put tunnels out and a bit of salad and just watch them race. It does take a while to catch them again though :{

Thanks, I did let one run around the kitchen once but he didn't run, he was frozen to the spot! I think if he had a friend he would be better

Dont have any pigtures as at work (shhhh) but what I do is put down a picnic blanket with waterproof back in case of accidents, I then have a hamster play pen which is all joined together to make circle except the 2 open ends.

Instead of making the circle I make a right angle, piggy cage is in corner so one side of area is the piggy cage one side is a wall, one side we have the hamster pen against the sofa and the other end which would be open has the hamster pen with a weight holding it against side of cage.

OH then made a little ramp so that when cage is open and play area set up they can come and go as they choose, takes about 5 minutes to set up.

Hope that makes sense.

:) Floor time for mine is I open the cage and let them have the run of part of our bungalow (kitchen, lounge and hallway), thiis gets left open mostof the evenings as long as we are there so they can come and go as they please as opposed to being given actual allocated time

Mine have the run of the living room during the day (I work from home). None of my current piggies will venture further than that, though, even though they can!

Don't have any photo's or videos handy on photobucket at moment but we use a big old curtain for floor covering, and C&C grids which are cable tied togther so it just unfolds and folds back up. This saves the hassle of using conectors on all the grids.

I live in a small open plan flat with wood laminate floor throughout - have been setting up a little 'base camp' in a corner of the kitchen with a couple of cardboard tubes and cushions so they have somewhere to hide. The first time I put them in there they both just stayed frozen to the spot but have got progressively braver every time I put them in. I made a little fence to put across the opening the the kitchen but they haven't ventured that far yet. If your piggie is scared maybe try reducing the space or keeping his cage in the run so it smells familiar until he gets a pal!:)

I used to just let them have free reign of the sitting room but I have a dog who thinks they're tasty so I they have a run I set up in my bedroom

I change bits and pieces that they have in there each time they go in, at the moment they've favourite thing is a weetabix box rolleyes

Hi

I go between a Early learning centre ball pit which is pink (£18) and has mesh on the sides.. the girls love it as there is a sense of security in there as well. Half fill it with crushed news papers, card board boxes, tunnels.. line with fleece and couple of wee pads. You can just leave them for a couple of hours. I work all day so have stuff to do at night as well as guinea piggies. This usually stays up for a couple of days. I brush up the poop and stuff when they go back in their cage. Its the business and they love it.

If they are not in there, i have a bigger pen which is big bit of lino, runner rug and a frame made from plastic b and q panelling 10" high (4 x 8ft - 6ft). This was easily but cleverly put together by my other half just with holes and tie grips. This frame collapses, I slide it along the floor against the wall, roll up the lino and rug. You spray and clean with vinegar after clean up. 10 minutes. Piggies loves this also, as they have big long tunnels here. I did take the frame away and tried to train them, but one night i left them alone with free range and they had a poop and peepee party everywhere on everything. they went wild! it was very funny.

Anyway, my two set-ups are easy, secure, not very time consuming and they love it.

I have that ball pit too for their floor-time. It's great! Like you say they feel secure and it literally takes 1 minute to put up.

When I have the time I section off half the kitchen. It also doubles up at the boar dating area when my bonding pen is full up with JohnnyPig and babies that he is looking after.

I've looked on elc website and are they just paddling pools? Have you got a link to something similar?

use normal c+c grids and use cable ties to make it foldable. then just clip the ends together each time or add more cable ties to make a pen. that's what i do which is so much better because we have limited space here so i just fold it down to store under the stairs.

Wow that looks huge!

What would your minimum recommended daily floor time be?

hi

I found this mothercare hope that link worked.. its mothercare anyway... looks the same as mine except a different colour

Also..

if you are going to b and q, its pvc cladding, a packet of 5 is about £3 (ugliest colour). We fitted 2 to slats together to make higher, taped together with heavy duty tape, cut to size, punch 2 - 3 holes on edge/sides, feed cable ties (do this while the cladding is collapsed, lying on top of each other and feed through, this ensures the ties will allow movement). Viola, i bulldog clip together and slide along the skirting board behind everything else... then its whatever you want for the floor underneath. cheap rug, lino, fleece.

I just use spare C&C cage grids mixed with furniture to make sides (:

This is floor time here! Or it was before I moved (moving was in progress when this was filmed, so please excuse the mess!) but you get the jist :))

This was when Jeff was a house pig, he had the run of the house and went in and out of his cage as he pleased, only being caged at night. He also had a run in the garden :))

He loves doing circuits of the outside of the room :))

I love that pig so much!

Julesie - where did you get this? I like the idea of having somewhere 'contained' that they can run around in indoors!
