Here's my special boy before and after pics - Fergus
When he first arrived 3 months ago. Deemed too ugly to sell by a fake rescue.

aww he's beautiful- sounds like a horrible story behind his rescue
Fergus's story was odd - and a bit long!
In my area there had been a few free-ad wanted ads for unwanted piggies - then one claiming to be the Swansea Guinea Pig Rescue - there isn't one - and asked for all unwanted pigs but also said in same ad I have babies for sale.
One of my fosterers went as a secret shopper to the 'rescue' and asked for a pair of adults - Oh no I keep all those to breed from.
So she asked about babies - No they are all too young to go yet. But you can have this one, he was born without hair, it's growing now but he's too ugly to sell.
Can I see the parents, do you have a lot of piggies? - No I don't let people out the back, I have about 60 pigs out there.
Asked what she did with the babies - I sell them to petshops (and named a shop, who is the only petshop I would rec'd as he homechecks the new homes)
My friend came away with Fergus - he was 15 weeks old but only weighed 300g! He had an eye infection brewing and he was very close to losing it at one point - I have lots of gross pics of his poorly eye.
I contacted the petshop she named and explained what she was doing - he knew her as a hobby breeder with only 6 or so pigs so was shocked to hear what was really going on. He said he would look into it - and since then no more adverts have appeared. All this happened while I was dealing with the farm rescue in West Wales so sadly I just didn't have any spare time to chase it up myself.
I believe she has/had a skinny gene carrier and was trying to breed skinny pigs - Fergus definitely has a skinny look about him but as he grew hair he was of no use to her. Fergus sheds his coat frequently and it is very much harsher than a normal rex - he certainly eats, poos and smells as much as a skinny does! He is a lifelong resident as his health isn't great after such a poor start in life and I don't want the temptation of trying to breed a skinny by some ignorant owner to be his future again.
