Does anyone use shredded paper for their piggies bedding?

Thanks :)

I have done :) Had no problems at all with it, the piggies get all snuggly. It's cheap too, we used to get it from the school my mum worked at.

i have, the pigs loved it, but it just wasnt really absorbent enough and flattened really easily x

They love to snuggle and rummage in it, but yep not very absorbant. Have to change it everyday. But if its free then :)

I know that MrsM uses shredded paper between two layers of newspaper as underlay to fleece.

It's not very absorbent, but something worth trying if you have access to a free and plentyful supply.

Great thanks, They seem to like it but I'm going to have a sleepless few nights with them, they're making so much noise with it lol

i remember the two i had on it used to love hiding in it and eating it like spaghetti, and yes it is soooo noisy :))

I use shredded paper between my layers of newspaper and hay, just as a bit of a buffer and they love to redecorate with it rolleyes:))

I use shredded paper, both ordinary paper and shredded newspaper. The shredded newspaper is far more absorbant and it's warm too as it traps air between it.

The shredded ordinary paper I agree is not that absorbant, but for me it just adds extra 'puff' to the bed lol

EXACTLY !
they love to hide under it too :))

I used it once when I ran out of my normal bedding.
They happily sat there eating it though xD;

We use shredded paper as an extra bedding. We use the finely cut (household shredders) because the long stringy stuff can get caught round their legs!

It needs to be changed a lot though, because they flatten it and it gets soggy. They flatten it in one night, so it should be added daily (in my experience)

I use it all the time, its cheap and environmentalily friendly, just chuck the lot in my recycle bin when i change them. I just make sure I have plenty of underlay. I also use hay, but yes it does flatten but if you have enough you can top it over each day.
