Will be traveling to the vets tommorrow, I normally have a small piece of fleece to line my carry case with.

Due to the hot weather I 'd rather not use the fleece, but something cooler. I have no newspaper in the flat at the moment, so was wondering if it would be ok to shred some plain printing paper just to use tommorow?

Any household alternatives will be helpful if the plain paper is out of the question.

Thanks

Nothing wrong with plain printer paper at all, imo. Might not be terribly absorbent though.

Thanks for your reply, I think paper might be not such a good idea then, I've opted for icepacks in covers under the fleece, they should do the job for long enough!

Thanks! Its about an hour there and hour back.
I'm getting the train and will be travelling in the morning so it won't be as hot, hopefully they're going to be okay in this heat. Regular breaks for water and hay of course!

Everything crossed for you, hope all goes ok at the vets today :) x

Aww thank you, just changed the ice packs in their cage, I dont know how these piggies cope with all that fur!
Agreed, we sheared our Barry before the hot spell, no one recognises him! Bless him

Same here I cut both of their hair, I know their not long haired piggys but their hair is so thick, it would've drove them barmy!

Just come back from a long journey to the vets.

The train journey was pleasent nice and cool in fact, tried to give the piggies some water on the train, but they didn't really want any so let them be.

The ice packs wrapped in fleece worked really well, and were still 75% solid when I came back!

Anyway the vet was brilliant, her first concern was Fifi plus she even checked over flash and didn't charge!

The vet thoroughly checked Fifi's toe and said xray wasn't needed as it clearly wasn't broken. The metacam has calmed the redness on her toe and the swelling has reduced in size,

There might be a slight nail bed infection, which Baytril has been given for.

Overall it had been a very good vet visit I was expecting pay a vet bill of £154 approx, as I had booked Fifi in for an additional xray. The bill was a surprising £20.01

So its been savings all round today!
