So tonight I have fed the piggies and did the usual to rile them up (mostly the smell of veg does this) but tonight I could not get a tiny squeak out of them and veg sat there for 15 mins before there was any interest but it was just grab something and run back to hidey which is is not like them at all especially patchy, if a train went through the house she would still happily eat her veg. I'm wondering if it's because i have a cold and my voice is croaky, perhaps they think I'm a stranger because I dont sound the same? Does anyone else get the silent treatment when they are sick?

That's very interesting, I've not had that personally but I'm rarely ill.

Are any of your piggies chirpers? I've noticed my piggies be like this before/after a piggy chirps, they go all weird!

Everything I have ever read about piggies and their personalities is that piggies can associate their owners with their voices, that's why they suggest when you first get a piggy to always talk to them in order to get them to trust you. So you being sick with a croaky raspy voice makes sense as to why they are being shy towards you. I am betting once you feel better and your voice is back to normal they will be happy to have their owner back. :) I hope that this helps.

No I've not heard any chirping from them ever. They wheeked for their pellets shortly after and now the dish is empty so they are eating which I'm relieved about.
