hi
had my piggies from about 8months now, they are ok in the cage, but when we get them out in the hall, for some floor time, they just run into the corners. we get them out for some exercise but they get more in the cage

has anyone got any ideas of how to make them more lively when they come out.
weve tryed putting toys there aswel but they still just sit in the corners next to each other

Thanks

Some piggies are naturally shy and nervous, remember in the wild they are prey animals so they would use bushes, logs etc to hide under.
When they are out at play time or in their cage give them pipes, cardboard boxes, etc so they can hide away. Some pigs are just more nosey. Do not make any sudden movements when they are playing this could startly them and make them not want to come out. Treats/fresh food are another item to tempt them out of hiding places.

Hi Danny,

I have a couple of pigs who are still shy. I tend to put them in a smaller area for play time so its not so daunting for them and it seems to work. Also I try and give plenty of cuddles so they are reassured by me.

I got some grids off screwfix.com, you can make pens to your size then. :)

hi danny,
get something like those plastic shell sand pits and put your babies in their, put pipes and things in their and hide food tibits in their too. talk to them softly and in time they will get to know play time is fun and might be more active. we have the opposite as far as jessie is concerned. put her down and she is off and we have to chase her she is a real tear away. :tickedoff: :tickedoff: every piggy is different. try coaxing them with their favourite foods that may help. good luck. hugs and cuddles to you and your babies. :smitten: :smitten:

Just wondering SunshineAndTwinkle, what are those grids called exactly? I'm looking for something to make a play area for my guineas, but I looked at Screwfix.com and there's so much, I just don't really know what I'm looking for... Thank you!
