So this is day 2 with my new boys, and I love them to pieces. Axel was very trusting from the start, and is calm and easy-going around me. He will let me pet him anytime, usually without running away. Reno, on the other hand, is very shy. His previous owner said he hid a lot, and would bite if touched. Well, the hiding part is correct. He loves his pigloo. But he has not bitten me yet. I usually try to handle him by cradling him in a towel, and that seems to make it easier. But I can tell he is not used to being handled a lot. I try to hand-feed him through the bars of the cage, and he does occasionally eat a piece of hay out of my hand.
I'm curious to know if others have shy piggies like this, and am open to suggestions on how to break him out of his shell more and be more trusting of the human touch. I think it may also just be a part of his personality, and I'm okay with the fact that he may not be as outgoing as Axel. But I would like to at least warm him up more to being pet and handled.
