You know he lets me take him out and will lay on me and stuff.. But when I hand feed him in his cage he still comes out and grabs it but runs back and hides.. its been over a week, I thought by now he would be happy and come right out? I guess not enough patience on my part.. Could take longer?

It'll take a few weeks. You'll notice him getting friendlier and braver all the time and in a few months he'll probably be fine. :) He's already being very brave to take food from you.

oh ok that is good to know. I still have lots to learn lol.. I can get him to come all the way out of hiding and then he takes it and goes back in.. I guess just have ot give it more time because I was hoping he would start weeking for food so i can hear him talk to me telling me he hungry!

Can you just sit by his cage and chat to him, so he gets used to you being there. You could also have your hand in his cage so that it's not a strange thing to him.

Mine still don't like being picked up so if I can't get them I let them climb into a cozy.

One of mine, Freya, has always been a lot more shy than Lexi. She still wont come up to the cage to take food from me, I have to go to her, and I've had them almost a year. I do try to get her more confident, and she is when out of the cage, but will never go anywhere without her sister and doesn't like being out on her own. My aim from now is to try and get her to be more confident around me and not hide so much :(|).

Where did you get your cozy from? Do all guinea pigs like those?

Try not to worry, it will take time for him to get used to you - and even when he's well settled in, there may still be times he's a bit flighty or nervous. It's great he is taking food from you.

Another piggie friend will help him to settle in quicker/easier and help his confidence no end. :)
