Hello all,
Yesterday my cream girl gave birth to 5 babies. 3 of the babies are at a healthy weight of 80-100g. The runt is at 44g but is slowly going up. The last baby is at 64g and has a bulging belly. His belly is very huge and warm and still has a bit of umbilical cord attached as he is only 1 day old.
His eye is also very crusty and wont open fully, when we tried opening his eye their was a white ulcer on the eye. He also has a very distinct ticking noise when he breathes. I know this sounds like a hopeless case but i really dont want to lose him!
If you could please give me some tips and advice on how to save this guinea pig, it would be greatly appreciated, Thankyou!
(I have taken some photos but dont know how to attach them)

I have no experience with new born pigs.

I can only suggest that you take it to a guinea pig specialised vet for immediate treatment.

Hey! I'm tagging @Wiebke for you, as she knows loads about pregnant sows and piggy babies. Wishing you the best x

Please have the baby seen by a vet as an emergency, ideally today - something serious is not right with its belly and it is not something that you can rectify on your own!

The eye problem is caused by inwards turned eyelashes that irritate the eye. This is called entropion and is not uncommon in new-borns. A vet can rectify that easily, but you need treatment to make sure that there is no permanent damage. Guinea Lynx :: Eyes
