Hi,
I posted here a few days ago about my boar Stan having a sore eye, despite being on antibiotic drops for a few days now I'm not seeing a huge improvement.
We are back at the vets in the morning for another check but he may need to have his eye removed.
Unfortunately the timing of this couldn't be worse as I go away for 2 weeks in just over a weeks time and he is likely to still need medical care while I'm away.
The lady I had lined up to look after the boys has now said she can't due to the potential medical issues, she isn't a Guinea pig expert, just an acquaintance, and my folks are also away at the same time so this leaves me without any care for my boys !

I live in the Wigan, lancs area, can anyone help with caring for my boys or know someone who can? Trying not to panic now

Thanks
Carolyn

I think the vet will be your best bet to keep him. More expensive than a boarding facility, but means the eye can be removed if need be and his aftercare will be the best it can be. X

I remember the people's faces but not their names sadly which isn't much help. There was that married couple from Hindley who came, they were lovely. Then it was Vicky, Lisa, Lisa & Ali, Tim, Me, Beth and Claire and her Mum, and that was it. :D

Hi, I use my exotic vets Ashleigh Vets in Chorlton. They are great with sick piggies, monitor food eaten, water drunk etc as well as giving meds.

Thank you I hadn't thought to ask the vet, will ask tomorrow x

In the past (when I was in the UK) I had a medically fragile dog, and one of the vet nurses would board him in an emergency.

Might be worth asking if you can leave a note for the nurses and see if any of them would have him at home?

I'm afraid I'm probably a little too far south and I've never boarded my piggies anywhere... They always come on holiday with me!
Hope Stan's doing okay xx
