I wrote on here yesterday, my guinea pig is very ill. I had him at the vet yesterday, he was running a temp, very lethargic, refusal to eat or drink. He gave him a shot of antibiotics, pain killers and medication to get his digestive system moving again. Iv be giving him water and his pellets watered down. This morning iv come down and he has white stuff oozing from his eyes. I pretty sure after trawling the internet for hours he has a respiratory in fiction, and it seem the antibiotics have done nothing to help if anything he's worse. I hate seeing him suffer like this.

I am so sorry for you & your piggy & hope it resolves soon. You should contact your vet about the new symptom. There are various antibiotics out there, some better than others for a specific problem. We tried 3 different antibiotics in 3 months before finally curing my boy's UTI.

Piggies do secrete a milky white substance from their eyes which they use to wash themselves with. Is this perhaps what you are seeing?

Did the vet give you antibiotics to give at home too?

It could be the milky cleaning fluid you are seeing or if not it may be linked to the infection.

I have been to the vet unfortunately there was nothing the vet could do, the antibiotics he got yesterday made no difference I think I may have gone too late. 1 day he was healthy, he went down hill so fast. Il have a heart broken wee boy when he comes home from school. I will b keeping a close eye on my other guinea pig just in case it was something contagious.

I am very sorry for your loss; guinea pigs can sometimes go down very quickly even when they are seen and treated promptly by a vet. Please keep an eye on your other boy in case he has caught it. You should know within a couple of weeks.
