Hi all
brief history...had a lonely 18 month old. Adopted 2 five week old sows before Christmas. They are now 11weeks old. my original is a bit bolshy but they have large c&c cage and she has settled down and only very occasionally rumbles them or "moves them on"
Babies have been putting on 30-50g per week.
One of the babies has lost 50g in the last week and has become detached from the other two. She is eating but without as much gusto and is not "grazing" as much as before and is no longer playing like the other.
Took her to a very good exotics vet who checked teeth, for lumps, hair, skin and couldn't find anything wrong with her.
Have monitored her in last two days and she has put back on 8g but is still very withdrawn.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with her?
Diet - lots of hay, readi grass, some fresh grass and 50g of fresh veggies per day
Can anyone please help? x

i take it the vet checked lungs and abdo for infection? could the other two be bullying? is she pooing and peeing? what about her ears? did you adopt from a rescue?

Thank you for replying
Darn, just lost my first reply so apologises if this is short answers....
Yes, he listened to lungs and heart and looked at her ears.
I got her and the other baby from a rescue.
I'm not sure about bullying but don't think so. I am with them a lot as they are in my home office and tbh since she's been ill they have pretty much ignored her.
Unfortunately I have not seen her pop or wee and can't tell from the cage but their are definately no loose poos or unusual ones and I have seen her making the movement they do when they eat the ones that I can't remember the name of.

You would be best to feed by herself and see what she does, try to 'catch' a wee sample too! Get some syringes (not the needle on tho) from your vet and you can then suck it up and get them to test, unless they can give you a sterile container. If she does a poop i'd collect those too so they can check them out.
If you're not happy i'd get a second opinion, you're right this little one shouldn't have lost that much weight :(

Healing wheeeeeeeeeeeeks from the girls and I XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

p.s. copography is the term for them eating their poops

p.p.s if you pop a thread in our health and illness section you'll get more of the members who'll be able to help you xxxxxxxxxxxxx
