Hi everyone! I'm new to the site and have a few concerns and figured it was best to talk with other guinea pig pet parents. I have a guinea named Diezel who is about 4-5 years old..This past weekend I took him to a vet for a second opinion and according to the vet, Diezel has a tumor on his belly that needs to come off immediately. It is the size of a quarter and bleeds constantly. Has anyone had this issue? If so, the vet says it will cost $490 for removal, medications and to send the tumor to the lab. Paying the money is not a problem, I'm just wondering if this is a usual price or if this vet is charging more than he should, which I heard in my area is possible. The vet also gave me an antibiotic spray for Diezel which I started him on this morning. The biggest thing that is concerning me as well is for the second time I have lifted his little dome and he was just laying there and wouldn't move. Today his whole body was twitching. Any advice? Obviously I am going to do the surgery but won't have the $$ for a few weeks, is there anything that anyone knows about that I can do to make him a little more comfortable in the mean time? He eats and drinks water perfectly as well.
