image.webp Let me preface this by saying that it is NOT my Gus who has been sick, but me. For over a week now, with some nasty viral business that just needs to run it's course & apparently is quite content to take it's damn time.
That having been said, I don't ever want to risk getting my boy sick, so I avoid all unnecessary contact with him until I feel I'm in the clear and am no longer a threat.
Tonight, after showering & washing my hands, I felt ok to steal a snuggle with my boy, who I've missed more than words can say!
Now normally, we just snuggle and I tell him how gorgeous he is, how much I love him etc... But tonight I felt it needed to be something a little more meaningful than idle chit chat- so I let him hunker down on my shoulder & as I pet him with one hand, my other held open the book I'm currently reading, and I read to him... TWO whole chapters! And guess what?! HE LOVED IT!
Me thinks that tonight, a new "Gus & Momma" tradition has been born...
Do any of you read books to your beloved piggies? I'd love to hear some of everyone's special snuggle time routines you have!

I love that you posted this. Tonight I was reading posts from this forum to my piggy, Mr. Lily and I was amazed how quietly he sat and "listened" when normally he's walking around and won't sit still.

Lovely. And, I hope you're feeling better.
Normally, by now I should have been long over this nasty ness, but I live with M.S. (Multiple Sclerosis) and have since 2004. And as such, things tend to linger longer, hit me harder, feel worse than they should, etc... For instance, what a common cold feels like to most, will end up feeling like a full blown flu to me. I'm quite used to it now, but it just sucks when it takes me away from snuggles with my boy! But THANK YOU though for your well wishes! From your lips to God's ears!

I have not read to my pigs for a while as they do not seem interested. It is lovely Gus likes you reading to him. I am sorry you are ill. I hope you recover soon.

My piggies would eat the book :))

You and Gus share such a lovely bond together. He is

Hope you feel better soon. x

Awwww thats so cute! I never tried reading to archie, he is so wriggly I dont think he would sit still, but he likes certain music and he likes dancing/watching me dance.

UGH I spoke too soon! Upon waking up today, I notice Gus's right eye is smaller, set back & has a white, cloudy/goopy discharge and he's sneezing like a champ.
Immediately called his vet, since I still have his meds home in the fridge, she suggested I start a new round of his Tribrissen (oral 2x's daily for 5 days) and his erythromycin for his eye (twice daily for 7 days) and I made an apt. To bring him in for Thursday, Feb 5th @ 5:00pm.

Sometimes you can do everything right & our little loves can still get sick.

Prayers, please, for my boy's speedy recovery!

How is Gus doing?

How is Gus doing?
He is a little better every day & has an upcoming vet visit on Thursday, Feb 5th. I'm a panic stricken, worry wart of a Momma, so every little sneeze, sniffle, cough, goopy eye, sends me into TIGER MOM MODE, Until he is back to 100% health! I am so in love with Gus, that the thought of him ever not being with me makes me sick to my stomach.

Perhaps it's time to start a support group where I'm not only the president, but also a client?! LOL
