So Toby and Barney have now moved into the living room for the winter. Mr S is still building their indoor cage so they are currently in a brand new hutch. This hutch is pretty much exactly the same as their old one except much larger (same layout etc). It is a 2 level hutch with a ramp, they had no problem using their own ramp. However, as since they went in the new hutch today they have refused to used the ramp.
I put them in the bottom at first but after about an hour I had to take them out and move them to the top because that is where their water and food is. They had a few hours up their and still did not go down the ramp. I took them out and put them on the bottom (that was enough for them to learn how to use the ramp when they were babies) but still would not use it. I have now carpeted it. I am going out to work soon so thought that I had to get them sorted. I felt like a very bad mummy as I just had to chase them - very reluctantly up the ramp. So I know they can go up - I'm good with that as it means they can always access food and water. Will have to wait and see if they will be brave enough to go back down.
I don't know what the problem is - they know how to do this - it is no different to their old hutch - if anything its better as this ramp has a bannister.
Silly Piggies!
