Hello All

probably a silly question, but as i now have another pair of boars, in a seperate but adjoining enclousure to my other two boys. I am a bit confused as to what to do for the best at floor time. I currently take the babies out first for around an hour for floor time and then put them back and then take the bigger boys out for roughly the same time. I take the tubes, hideys, food from the respective enclosures to the floor each time. When i take the babies out the big boys squeek and wheek ( i think its more of a "hey, wtf why you not taking us out" than them missing the little ones). When i put the little ones back and take the big ones out. They start squeekuing and wheeking for a bit until they settle down. But as soon as both pairs are back in the enclosure the go mental trying to get to each other through the bars, scooby will rumble strutt up and down and shaggy and drogon put their noses to each other through the bars. Elvis I think may be a bit simple he pays no attention and just does his own thing when all four are together (but still ssperated in 2's).
My question is, am i doing it right with regards to letting the little ones go first then the big ones, or should I do it the other way around?

Thanks
Joe

Hi! I would recommend to observe the piggy hierarchy which works from the top down. Always treat the top and top pair first.

What I call "boar hakas", measuring up through the bars, is perfectly normal behaviour that is eventually going to settle down to saying hello. It is reaffirmation of each group's territory and mutual standing.
All boars in my house do it, whether they are bonded with another boar or living with sows.

Thanks for that. Shaggy has started to rumblestrutt at the bars on occassion which leads scooby to put him back in his place. there is no nipping just a bit of chasing around. I assume this is normal behaviour. It is ashame you can't put all four together as they seem to be touching noses through the bars and not really being aggressive. The little ones (Drogon and Elvis) seem to do everything together but shaggy and scooby dont. Is this because they have a dominant neighbour or will they in time start to rumble at each other when they are bigger?
