Hi guys! My guinea pigs both have a URI, which is being treated with the antibiotic Baytril. One of my piggies has a more sensitive stomach, and since I've been making sure she's eating a lot of vegetables since she has a URI right now, she's come down with some gases. Not bloat, she's pooping fine and her sides are still squishy enough. However i was wondering if i could give Simethicone at the same time we are giving Baytril (along with benebac ab an hour after Baytril, in case that's important)? Someone please help quick since i dont want her gases to get worse. Thank you!

Hi!

Please take your girl off any fresh veg. Over 80% of the daily food intake should be hay, hay and more hay - which contains vitamin C, by the way.

Here are our tips for bloating; mild and severe.
We do not recommend simethicone for bloat as it collects the gas into one large bubble, which piggies can struggle to get out. (see the link below for advice)

Please see a vet if necessary! The best you can get for a bloated piggy is zantac/ranitidine from them.

PS: It doesn't matter whether you give gut stimulants at the same time as an antibiotic.
