I haven't been on here much lately as I've had lots of different things going on aswell as today the loss of our beautiful cat simmy puss. So here's a tribute to this tiny little cat and the joy she brought me for 17 years.
I had only ever had a dog, rabbits and a guinea pig when I was a child and I never really liked cats in fact I would say I disliked them. During my mid twenties I had suffered quite a few losses with one thing and another and also moved into a flat on my own. I felt lonely and really wanted a pet but living in a flat my options were limited. Soooooo I saw an advert one day in a shop window 'kittens for sale £20 each' when I went to see the kittens she was the only one left and she was tiny, the lady said she was the runt of the litter and she seemed pleased that I would be taking her as she didn't seem that overly smitten with cats. So a complete newby to cat welfare I took her back to see my mum who was poorly at the time and somehow she got out of the box I had her in and as far as we thought had run out of the door never to be seen again. I wasn't sure if I was relieved or sad as I still wasn't complete taken with the idea of having a cat so I went home and went to bed and thought no more of it.
Ring ring ring ring..... At about 2am in the morning my Dad was calling me to say he had found the kitten who had crawled into the back of their wall unit and was meowing but wouldn't come out. My Dad grabbed what he thought was a leg and she came out after much protest and there I was at 2.30pm putting her in a box and taking her home and what happened next was the start of a wonderful relationship with my cat puss - wuss.
Puss wuss went everywhere with me when she was a kitten. We spent so much time together and within a few months I fell completely in love with her cattish charm. She was always nervous around other people especially my dad funnily enough but with me she always snuggled up and snuggled in and became my friend and confidant and slept with me every night on my pillow.
At 6 months old she had 4 beautiful kittens and at 8 years old she also fell in love with my now husband and spent as much time snuggled up on him and next to him as she did with myself. She helped me through the death of my Mum aswell as a tragic passing of a very close friend, her need for food and love kept me going when I felt emotionally able to take care of myself.
So...... 3 house moves later, lots of meowing. thousands of cat treats and snuggles morning and night she finally reached the grand old age of 17 and everything was fine until about 3 weeks ago when we noticed that she had started with breathing problems. last week she had what appeared to be a tumour in her eye although both vets who saw her said they had never seen anything like it before. A tough decision to make and we did too and fro a bit with whether we were doing the right thing, was itbthe right time, was she in pain etc etc all the questions i have since got to know are perfectly normal. however me and my husband took her to the vets today to end her discomfort as we felt that her quality of life was now in question and worse still we felt she must of been in pain.
I have cried many tears over the past 3 weeks knowing we had to get to this point but you always believe your pet will live forever and sadly the realisation this is just not the case. A week ago as I picked her up I sobbed into her beautiful tabby fur and told her I'm sorry that things have happened this quick but we love her too much to let her suffer.
I wanted to leave a couple of pictures of the most beautiful cat I could ever have known and hope that she will settle on a star somewhere and keep Coco our guinea pig warm who we lost in April this year aswell.

Always loved to sleep close to us
