My new piggy Lucky seems to be a bit clumsy. As in she runs in to things. I don't know if it is to do with her eyesight, or simply because it's all so new to her with the cage set up and everything. And now she has a new herd as well.

She ran head first in to the nugget bowl last night and that was in the middle of the cage. Earlier she ran out of the hay tray and smacked in to the grassy tunnel whereas the others were avoiding it. I do not see her running in to everything, but I haven't noticed any other piggies ever doing this.

Do you think there could be something wrong with her eyesight? I am not sure if she has red eyes or pink ones

I have one who does this and it was actually that which alerted me to his dodgy eye. He's only blind on one side, which does mean his running into things is obviously on that side. Could be one side is poorly sighted and the other not, perhaps? You could try the response tests on her eyes to see, but you have to wait for her to be relaxed, or, being pigs, they just freeze in fear!

I only picked her up yesterday so interaction from me is almost non existent as she is settling in. I did have a sneaky cuddle this morning, but I am watching her.

It could be the new cage and the distraction of new friends. Willow and Bracken both run into things whem they go into supper fast zoomies, Bracken particularly hits the sides of the cage as if he can't judge the distance before he has to turn, the nugget bowl is regularly tipped up. Something to keep a atch on for a bit time will tell. If you get really worried I would take her to the vet but from what I've read on here piggys do really well with no or poor eye sight.

The only piggy that does that in my herd is my little one eyed Tonks.

When observing her, does she look from side to side a lot, slowly but very deliberately? Can other pigs sneak up on her?

I would suggest that she may have some sight problems but only partially. I think that red/pink eyes animals can have reduced sight in any case.

Doesn't stop them though! :)

She is such a little sweetie!

I picked her up for a brief cuddle and she settled down in my arms squeaking softly to herself as I stroked under her eyes. And she is so white...she looks like new, white paint!
