I have finally found out who's been singing, it's Cissy! :yahoo:

She sung right in front of me when I got Bella out for her medication this morning, and again this afternoon when mum and I brought them treats. It was so beautiful. I feel so honoured that she sung for me, and twice in one day!

Bella wanted to get back to her when Cissy was singing during medication time, not desperately but she wanted to see her. The second time Bella just laid down and was so relaxed.

Does anyone else have singing stories?

I wish I knew what it meant!
 
Oh I read about this......it has a special name but I can't remember! From what I read you are very lucky if you get to hear it. How lovely!
 
Aww u have a chirping piggy too :)

Its an amazing sound. My dopple I managed to catch doing it a couple of months ago.

Nobody seems to know why they do it. The others seem to stop &listen but dont seem alarmed by it- more intrigued or something.
I'll see if can find the link to my video.
Its fascinating &strangely kind of eerie too in a nice sort of way.

I've kept guineas for a long time &only ever had 2 that have chirped.
The first was when she got a new friend after losing her sister about a week before &the other ... Dopple was sat having a cuddle when she started doing it- no idea why

@Dorothy&Coco yes I am very lucky! She's chirped a lot since I've had her, about 7 months I suppose, but she's never sung in front of me before, let alone twice in 12 hours! She always used to stop before I got to them so I didn't know who it was til now but suspected it was her haha.

@GPTV wow that's beautiful! I have managed to get a video yet I just sorta stood there and enjoyed it because I didn't want to disturb her haha. Sounded just like that though, so beautiful.

I would love to know what it means, but the mystery is pretty fun too!
 
That's my favourite theory too haha!

I can't believe it, she's just chirped AGAIN and for a lot longer this time, Bella was laying down quietly listening to her like you said @sport_billy !

That's thrice in 24 hours now, odd!
 
I have a chirping piggy too! Violet does it quite often, and I've noticed now that both piggies rush into their cabin before she starts, like they have been startled? There hasn't been anything like a loud noise or movement to cause it though. We like to think that she is a guinea pig medium! My other piggy Primrose too stays really still whilst she is doing it.
 
My Chock is a chirper as well
He's the only pig i've had thats done that
Sounds like a little song bird when he starts up
Its usually in the middle of the night when he does it though so i can never record the sound....
 
One of the girls does it but I don't know who it is.
It doesn't half wind up the cats who rush about the house looking for the bird that's got in :D
