peach just woke me up by singing really loudly. I thought somehow a bird had got in until I noticed it was her. What does it mean and why is she singing?

No one really knows why they do it. It’s called chirping. I’ve seen it once and all of the guinea pigs in the room seemed to be in a trance while it was happening.

Congrats, you have a chirper! 3 of my pigs have done it now and, as previously mentioned, no one knows why! It's truly fascinating and I hope to figure it out one day.

For the time being I just like to enjoy the song and all the mystery ;)

It was sooo loud! It was a lovely song. She didn’t seem upset or anything so I’m guessing she was just happy this morning :) I hope to hear it again.

It's so lovely. Of the 27 pigs I've shared life with over the years, only 1 has been a chirper. The vet I see told me it's because of "supreme loneliness", but I'm not convinced by this - I think it's something some happy, particularly vocal pigs just like to do so express themselves.

I've not got single pigs so I can't see it being loneliness! They seem to learn it from each other in my herd!

It means you are really lucky and they do it for a reason hidden to us.

I did notice peach came into season later that day, could it be something to do with that? Do males do it too or just females? It’s really interesting, I wish piggies could tell us why the do it.
