Junior Guinea Pig
It's so difficult to write this as i still feel a tremendous amount of guilt about it all.
Sir Alfie Gnome lost the use of his back legs after an accident early this summer.
The 1st vet we saw said that he had no feeling left at all on his rear end but wasn't in any pain, so after anti inflams and anti biotics we went home armed with srynges and saches and hoped for the best.
We saw 3 different vets but they all said that nothing could be done for him, the 3rd vet said we should "consider his quality of life". I disagreed and took him home,afterall- he was still zooming about on 2 legs, eating well and having the occasional rumble at the girls and I so wanted him to see the summer and enjoy his days out in the run on the grass in the sunshine.
Alfie got his summer days out, but despite daily bathing and frequent cleaning of his home, he developed sore bits and the decision was made mid August this year that it would be best to have him put to sleep before he developed any infection.
Dear Alfie, I'm so sorry for what happened and I always will be - You were such a quiet sweet little man, so cute with your little brown "shorts and waistcoat" effect colouring that inspired us to give you the Gnome part of your name.I feel really bad about you not living out your natural lifespan but I didn't want you to start feeling ill and miserable. I hope i made the right decision for you.

We love you and miss you Alfie x Popcorn free my brave little knight x Until you and Guinevere meet again x
