Senior Guinea Pig
Evening all,
As some of you may have seen on my facebook Fin had an operation today to remove some lumps. We travelled up to Northampton to see Simon (super vet!) to get his opinion on the lumps and get some sort of plan together on how we were going to deal with them. Fin had seen a vet for one of the lumps back in October when I first noticed it but to be honest I don't think he really knows his stuff and I was told just to 'keep an eye on it.' Unfortunately it was worse than I realised and he had 4 lumps on one side of his tummy and a large one on the other. We went with the plan to remove the large one as it was slowly growing and would pose difficulties due to its location and to remove one of the other 4 to send away to histology. So he was booked in and had the op! The vet nurse did say that they looked like fatty lumps so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for that outcome...
I'll keep you updated once the results come back in. Fin is doing well in himself at the moment, and has eaten his veg, pellets and hay tonight. The girls were pleased to see him and have welcomed him back with no problems despite him stinking of the vets
!
Here are some pics of Simon's handy work:
Smaller lump on the left:
Large lump on the right - he no longer has a nipple!
I've got the day off tomorrow too to make sure he's ok, i've got lots of new pics of the gang so will try and get them on here tomorrow!
