I went away for the weekend, and left my mum to look after the pets. When I got back (tuesday) I held Bubbles and realised that he has scabs and cuts all over his back, and hairloss. I assumed that they had a fight during the time I was gone, so I quickly seperated them. However, since then, it has only got worse, which makes me think he has some sort of problem with his skin? We do have a mite powder and anti-insecticidal shampoo, but I was hesitant to use this because he has open cuts and I dont want to irritate them. I do have a vets appointment for tommorow, (I know I should have got one earlier, but tommorow is the earliest they could do)
I've got some pictures,(really not the clearest because he absolutely hated me touching it) so can anyone tell me what this is?
(In some of the pictures it looks a lot worse than it is, because I put some cream to stop infections (one suitable for small animals) on the cuts so it makes it seem like there is less hair in the photos.

I feel so bad for him, it looks painful. I am hesitant as to putting them back together, as I cant decide if the scabs are from a fight, or whether they are self inflicted by him when he's scratching, if it is some sort of thing to do with his skin.
Thanks for reading x

Looks similar to a sow I was given as the pwner couldn't cope with her treatment. Mine has a fungal infection, but keep the vet appt so you can be sure of what it is as it will be more costly in the long run, and unkind to your piggy, to incorrectly treat. Mine has had to start treatment all over again as,p/owner didn't treat sow she was with! Good luck

It is good that you are having them seen by a vet; to me it looks more like mites or fungal, but you will need a correct diagnosis and the appropriate treatment.

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask:
Should I take them both to the vets? Benny (my other piggie) has no scabs or hairloss, but should I take him to the vets along with Bubbles anyway, just in case it is a skin/mites condition and they both need treatment? That was another reason I thought it could have been a fight, because Benny has none of the symptoms or issues Bubbles has, he seems as healthy as ever.
