My Guinea Pig, Gizmo, Got a cut on his side, I thought he had cut it on a sharp bit of wood. As it was Saturday I went to pets at home and got some antibacterial powder. It had improved by the monday so I didn't worry too much and didn't take him to the vets as he was still happy and not in pain. Then last Saturday he had another two cuts so on the Monday I took Him to the vets and now he has to have 3 injections to cure the mites. And the vet said to give him vitamin c tablets as it will help the recovery from them.

The symptoms are dry skin, scratching and cuts.

The skin lesions are most likely from Gizmo scratching himself. Pigs have been known to scratch themselves quite badly from the irritation caused by parasitic and fungal infections. It sounds like you have caught the mites quite early though, the 3 Ivermectin injections will do the trick. You should see a reduction in scratching fairly soon.

How long is the vet leaving between doses?
