Darwin's skin (I think it's his skin?) is puzzling me.
He has had lice which we are treating with Easimec Ivermectin 0.5% at 0.14ml which should get any mites too, should he have them!
He had the first 'dose' on Tuesday so is due another soon, and I can't find any live lice now which is great!
So, I can only (hopefully) assume that we're beginning to get parasites under control - so I'm unsure as to what to do next!

Since he was neutered nearly 4 weeks ago he will barely tolerate being touched! I can pick him up, but once he's on my knee any attempt to stroke him anywhere but the middle of his crest results in kicking, spinning and almost seizure like movements - so I thought mites? But he's never itchy, and with the treatment killing the lice...

His skin looks pink and smooth - although it's very hard to see as he won't sit still! There's no hair loss or anything. Is it his skin or is it more of a mental thing? It's only since he was neutered (the op site is fine).

Help D:

Has he always disliked being stroked I wonder, what's his background?
Could he be allergic to his bedding...I don't know I guess it's just some random consideration.

I'm wondering about Neem Soothing gel from Gorgeous Guineas, although might need to check first how soon you can use after his previous treatments.

It is difficult to say what is the matter about not liking being touched, whether it is from being operated on and being handled rather roughly then, whether it is a reaction to the easimec or mange mites.

Have you tried piggy whispering techniques to see whether it is a behavioural issue or not?

I was thinking of trying something soothing on his skin! I'll check it out :) Gorgeous guineas seems like the best place for soothing Guinea stuff!
He's always been on VetBed with us which has never bothered him before. He's never been super keen on touching but never this much before - I wonder if it could be more psychological?

Thanks Wiebke, I'll check out the link! He's such a funny little soul... the vets are great so I'm sure they handled him kindly, but perhaps it's just put him off being handled? Silly sausage he is <3
