Hi!

Are you only feeding lettuce or any other veg too as lettuce is not exactly a very nutritious food?
It makes a huge difference whether you are introducing food on a digestive system that is not prepared for it or whether you are dealing with an individual sensitivity to just one single veg.

We can't help you with practical advice until we have more background information.

I was feeding romaine lettuce, pepper, carrot, green small beans occasionally and celery occasionally in the morning and parsley, or coriander in evening. Have done this for past 4yrs an no troubles. Had him on fibreplex for few days no salad and poo was back to normal so introduce very small amounts of pepper carrot and romaine lettuce again great for 3 days then all clumps and a little wet again. So as from this morning no more salad again, he is so looking for his salad love him feel cruel. Eating hay and nuggets no troubles.

Please try to help stabilise the gut with 'poo soup' from healthy piggies (i.e. transfer of live health cavy microbiome). If made properly, this is the most effective method of helping a gut with dysbiosis (overgrowth of the wrong bacteria). If you use fibreplex, then please do a whole course or even two courses. Keep your piggy off any fresh food until the poos have been firm for at least 48 hours and then re-introduce it only very slowly, starting with fresh herbs and not adding any more vareties until the last lot has been fine.

Our 'poo soup' recipe is in here: Probiotics, Recovery Foods And Vitamin C: Overview With Product Links

If problems remain ongoing, please see a vet. Sensitivities can develop in order older piggies, and as yours is a skinny, he is now an older gent.

So do I do fibreplex (he doesn't like this at all) as well as hay and nuggets? How long for just until his poo is normal or for say a 10 day course? Will he get enough vitamin c in the nuggets? Or do I supplement? Sorry for all the questions.
