Hi, so I’ve already been on and posted a few threads about my new skinny pig. I have read a lot of good information on your own what they like and what they don’t like and how to take care of them. I also have three piggies whisper I know how to take care of them when it’s really hot in the summer but …Funny question even though my skinny pig moose doesn’t have fur does he overheat as fast as a guinea with fur ? is there anything special I need to do for him? I know obviously not to put any guinea pigs indirect sunlight especially them. I just wanna make sure I have all my ducks in a row. I live in Massachusetts and it gets pretty hot here and I want all my little piggies to be nice and cool. I always dread the summers bought in the snuggle safe cool and heating gel beds for them. I also freeze water bottles and wrap them up in cloths when I’m gone to work just wanna make sure I’m not missing anything. Thanks so much for all the great info from everybody every time I need it🤩🥰🫎

They love the heat, but it doesn't love them as much. Do what you normally do for your other guinea pigs, there's nothing specific to skinnies that you need to do but keep an eye on your room temperatures. Much like they need to be kept warmer than others when the weather is cold, the same applies in hit weather - they don't deal with upper extremes too well either. But neither of mine ever made use of ice blocks, tiles or whatever because, well, they're cold lol. They'd use them if they absolutely had to (probably) but otherwise wrap them up in a cloth to make it nicer to lie on or near.

My skinnies seem to cope with the warm weather better than their haired friends. If it's really hot I have put wrapped ice blocks in their cage but they have generally been ignored.
However, if they are outdoors remember that they will get sunburned easily. I always make sure that their run is shaded (the same for all our piggies usually).
