I'm astounded to see how much it is to buy skinny pigs from breeders, perhaps I'm a bit new to this and this is the norm 90 pounds in this area. There seems to be no rescue centres within in 50 miles of where I live which is a shame as I would love to help other pigs but would love some skinnies, is this the norm ?

Sadly Norfolk/Suffolk and Essex are not good rescue country - we'd be ever so happy if there were some decent rescues nearer to you than Bury St. Edmunds.

Skinnies are currently very much in fashion since they burst onto the mass market not long ago, and there are plenty of people who are making money on the back of that fad. :(

I would never dream of going to a breeder, but in this area its hard to find any pigs that aren't on selling sights. I do hope I haven't offended anyone mentioning breeders.

Skinny pigs are hold to get hold of. I very much doubt you will find any in rescues. I got mine from a breeder in Rayleigh as that's the only place I could get them. They were 50pound each.

Well done for refusing to go to a breeder.

Mine are from a rescue.

Wow expensive! My two furries were £32 pound TOGETHER!

If you are desperate for skinnies I would advise holding out for a few months and watching rescue's pages and sites like gumtree as soon people will have got bored of their skinnie pigs and have started rehoming them. I have already heard today of someone at the farm where I keep my horse wanting to rehome her skinnies and shes only had them a few months. The novelty value will wear off, and people will get fed up with having a pig they cant put in a hutch outside etc. Just be patient and I bet you will find some.
