Hi guys! I know this is nowhere near as serious as some of the posts here, but anyway...
I have adopted a new baby guinea pig named Fudge. He HATES being picked up (although doesn't mind being stroked in the hutch), so I don't know how I'm meant to apply his fly spray :mal:
Any tips?

Use a technique to pick him up like this

The first 30 days with your guinea pigs will be the hardest, as they are getting used to their new surrounding and people. My newer boys are only just adjusting to me after 3 months. May ask, is fudge alone? guinea pig boars must live in pairs, and getting him a friend will make the settling in process quicker.

Hi and welcome

Please take the time to have a look at our new owners guide collection. It has a whole section dedicated to settling in and making friends with your new guinea pigs, including 'piggy whispering' tips.
Getting Started - New Owners' Most Helpful Guides

Do you only have this one piggy? Please be aware that guinea pigs are ground roaming group animals that should not be kept alone. your little one is currently feeling very lost without knowing the way back to its family and friends, and in the power of a huge predator that is playing with it from time to time, but that - crucially - also may kill it at any minute as soon as it tires of its play.

Hi everyone, thank you for being so concerned!
I currently have three pigs - I would never DREAM of just getting one! I am a fairly evperienced owner, it’s just that this pig is the only one I’ve ever had who HATES being picked up. Thanks for all the info, videos and links - they’ve all been very helpful.

That is great news! It is never a quick process, but you can hopefully work on it.
