So took them to the vets this morning.
She couldn't feel any lumps in Sky but nevertheless he is booked in on Tuesday for a X-ray / operation ( if a stone is indeed found ) if not then we try something else.
Poor Loki had to have a skin scrape :( He was not a happy pig and kept crying but mummy was there giving him kisses xoxo he was such a brave boy!
Hopefully get his results in about a week and then we shall also go from there with his treatments.

All fingers crossed for Sky's x-ray, hope it doesn't show up any stones. Well done to brave Loki, that must have been unpleasent :(

Hope they are both feeling better soon, just seen Bear on your other thread, he is Gorgeous x)

Poor Loki was upset but so brave! They had to take two - one to send to the labs and one for them to look at as well. Poor baby wasn't happy at having his skin made red raw!
I am praying he hasn't got a stone! If he has then he will be operated on that day GULP

Thank you, he is such a sweetie x)

Oh poor darling. That must have hurt so much. :( Thank goodness that is over. I wonder why his hair has still not grown back. It is so odd. Lets hope Sky will not have a stone.

Hope Sky doesn't have a stone.

As for the skin scrape you may find that it doesn't show anything fungal wise as only ringworm tends to show up in tests.

Hope your guineas are ok now after their vet visit. Bertie had to have a skin scrape of a fungal area a while back & the vet did it with a mini toothbrush thing. Hd wasn't impressed but it didn't make him red raw. It came back positive for ringworm & got treated ok with Daktarin.

Fingers crossed there's no pesky stones found :)

Sky has been left at the vets today for xray and poss operation. I'll call them this afternoon :O

Just spoke to Vets and Sky hasn't had surgery as I believe they said no stones were found. I am picking him up at 5:30 and guess I'll see what they say.

Good it's not stones & surgery wasn't required. Hope Sky is ok x

Right so the X-ray showed that Sky has calcium grit in his bladder. I have been given Baytril and Rimadyl for 5 - 6 days and he showed me the CCT handbooks for bladder problems. I have just brought a water filter and we are going to see if that makes a difference. The handbook also mentioned about a drug to help remove the grit - Can't remember what its called, I'll look at the print out shortly.
So we are going to give this a go and if he is still squeaking after a month or so then he will have to have a catheter put in and the grit flushed out.

All the nurses loved him and he was very good for his xray and just sat still xoxo

What a good boy to sit still for his xray :)

Hope the meds work. We did a lower calcium diet for our older pigs. The food table on guinealynx gives all the Ca values which was really useful for us. We switched to Burgess Excel Sensitive pellets as they were lower Ca than some others. We use a water filter too as we're in a hard water area.

Lots of info out there but some of it is contradictory! You need to have a good look & draw your own conclusions!

Hugs to Sky :)

Does anyone know where I can get Rowatinea from? Its recommended he has 0.2ml twice a week for rest of his life to help flush out bladder.

Bless Sky for being so good for the x-ray. So pleased it wasn't stones. Hope you can get his bladder flushed through. Lots of healing vibes to him x

Bless him! Such a relief that it isn't stones! :)

I heard Sky squeak again the other day when weeing, if it continues it'll be a renal flush out for him.

Hope Sky improves lots of piggie cuddles and wishes from me and the boys x

Thank you, I am going to give a little longer... though I don't see it getting better. Hopefully once the grit has been flushed out.. if it does come back it shalt be for a while.
Hoping to hear back for Loki's skin scrape results this week also so then hopefully we can get his hair to grow back - poor boy!
